The Union runs numerous events that are highly suitable for all disabled students. One of the best ways to get involved is the Students Union "Give it a go" program, this program has events ranging from computer skills through to wine tasting and Steel drumming. As well as this there is the opportunity to get involved in one of the numerous societies that are present within Newcastle Union, all societies' are inclusive and will try to over come any obstacle that you may have with accessibility.
Inside the Union we run several small groups that are designed to gain feedback from disabled students. This feedback is taken very seriously within the Union and the University. So if you feel that you would like to help make the Union and the University a more inviting place for disabled students please contact me at the email address below. These meeting only meet once or twice a term, though do provide invaluable information.
Over the last few months and years we have spent considerable money trying to improve the accessibility of the Union as a whole. Many students may not be aware that Union has a full optional lift that connects all floors of the building, this lift is functional at all times when the building is open. The union also has contingency plans for all disabled students, but we do ask that if you should require any special help that you contact the reception on the ground floor.
If you have any further questions about disabled students needs and accessibility questions in the union please do not hesitate to contact me at my email address.
