Stressed Out Students is back for a second time to help you out in the run up to exams, running 12-23 May. Members of the WAC team will be in the library giving out goody bags over the 2 weeks (including revision and relaxation guides and a lolly!) and we will also be offering free Reiki sessions.
Reiki is great for relaxation, and helps with energy levels too. You lie (fully clothes) on a table and the practitioner places their hands non-intrusively around the body whilst they give the healing treatment.
Reiki sessions will be taking place in the Union on Thursday 15th May and Tuesday 20th May. Sessions last for 30 minutes and start at 10:30am, with the last session being at 6pm. Places are by appointment only and are on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to book an appointment please contact support.union@ncl.ac.uk with your name and preferred time.

Newcastle Students’
The campaign will raise awareness of any unnecessary noise they may make whilst living in the local area, particularly at later hours when coming home from an evening out.
Posters, taxi stickers and window stickers will be distributed to students of both universities over the coming weeks to promote the campaign, which also has the support of
Students also have a silent disco to look forward to on 4th March at Newcastle Union to tie in with the theme, whereby the only music played is through headphones that each person will be wearing, thus creating the idea of a silent nightclub!
Newcastle’s Student Support Officer, Rosie Duffield said, “The number of noise complaints has been low this year which is great, but there’s always more we can do to encourage students to keep the noise down, particularly on the way home from a night out.
“This campaign aims to raise awareness amongst students and remind them to be respectful to other residents in the area.
“We are also encouraging students to be aware of noise at home, for instance playing loud music or having the TV on a high volume, as this can also be a disturbance to neighbours.”
The campaign isn’t just for one week, however.
NUS has just had a petition accepted on the Downing Street website regarding our campaign against student healthcare charges.
We'd be very grateful if you could sign up and then pass on to everyone and anyone. The current signatures are looking a little lonely!

The text is as follows:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to support the National Union of Students' campaign for accessible healthcare which calls on the government to exempt students from charges for prescriptions, dental care and eye tests.
NUS fears that increasing debt and money worries mean that students are choosing between either accessing good quality health care - which often means diverting money away from spending on basic costs such as food and study materials - or not accessing healthcare at all. Investing in affordable, quality healthcare now will ensure a healthier generation of graduates in the future. The National Union of Students is calling on the government to exempt students from charges for prescriptions, dental care and eye tests.
